986 Advanced Driver Cooling Systems sponsored a very cool (pun intended!) promotion for Drivers and Teams competing in the NorCal SpecE30 Regional Series. A complete 986 Pro-Ice cooling system (Retail $899) was awarded to the Driver or Team who accumulated the most points between the June 2010 event at Infineon and the August 2010 event at Thunderhill. Points were accumulated using qualifying position and race position for the four races (the standard NASA points system was utilized, for example if one driver or team captured all four poles won all four races he would have a total of 800 points). Second and third place won a $200 and $175 discount coupon towards the purchase of a 986 Pro-Ice System. In addition, the racers finishing in 4th place and lower, there were three random drawings for finishing positions for a 986 passive cooling shirt or a $75 off coupon.
August 21-22 2010 was weekend that determined the winner of the 986 Pro-Ice Driver cooling system. Gary Rieger with Team Berkeley Motorworks took the top spot in points with a total of 755 points and brings home a complete 986 Pro-Ice Driver cooling system just in time to use at Miller. Greg Peterson in second place (695 points) takes home a gift certificate worth $200 off the purchase of a 986 Pro-Ice Driver Cooling System. Team BTM Motorwerks finished in 3rd spot with 610 points and takes home a $175 gift certificate also good towards the purchase of the 986 Pro-Ice Cooling System. Winners of the $75 gift certificate or a 986 Passive Cooling Shirt in a random draw of 4th place or lower were 7th place Team B&W Racing, 12th place Mike Sekhon and 18th place Rick Row. Below is the final total tally of points. A big thanks goes to Walter Ford and the folks at 986 Racing for hosting this fun side event and their generous payouts to NorCal SE30 racers.
